I finally bit the bullet this week and coughed up the $299 (approx £150) for an expidited review of my business website www.apricot-studios.com. I had been considering Yahoo Directory entry for a couple of years and with the strong pound against the very weak dollar it finally made sense to give it a try.

The category I opted for is “Website Designers” and I expect the real return on investment will be the additional targeted traffic the listing will bring. Although I’m also interested to see if there is any increase in Google Pagerank or if it will open up Google sitelinks for my site too.

Thankfully the entry was approved this morning, though I never thought inclusion was ever really in doubt. I’d be interested to know if anyone has had an entry refused – with the cost being non-refundable that’s got to be a pain?

I’ll post more when I have more results.

  1. hey guys, glad to see another addition to the Scottish blogging fraternity. Hope you’re enjoying wordpress – I wouldn’t choose anything else for blogging these days. If you’re getting on well with it have a look at setting up you’re own with the downloadable version at http://www.wordpress.org its even better will give you a far better customisable blog. That said you won’t get all the lovely link juice from the wordpress.com tags.

  2. Hi there,

So have you received any targeted traffic to the site or even a welcome boost in SEO ranking from it?

I am considering it too you see :)

  3. Hi Steven,

I can’t say that I have had that much targeted traffic from it nor have I had any change in SEO ranking either. When it comes up for renewal I don’t know if I;ll bother.
